Functions

  • Yarn Guidance: It guides the weft yarn to ensure that it passes through the warp yarn accurately, achieving the interlacing of warp and weft yarns. For example, in a shuttleless ribbon weaving machine, the weft yarn hook needle, in cooperation with the knitting needle, guides the weft yarn to the correct position to complete the weaving action.
  • Yarn Picking: After the knitting needle finishes a weaving action, the yarn hook needs to accurately pick up the weft yarn or the bottom thread. Then it can carry out subsequent weaving operations, such as tightening and fixing the bottom thread or weft yarn, ensuring the tight and firm structure of the ribbon.
  • Weaving Assistance: It helps to achieve different weaving stitches and patterns. Through the coordinated work with knitting needles and other components, it can weave ribbons with various patterns, textures and structures, meeting the diverse market demands.

Structure and Types

  • Structure: Generally, it consists of a hook body, a hook tip and a connecting part. The hook body, the main part of the yarn hook, is usually slender, with certain strength and flexibility to ensure stable operation during the high-speed weaving process. The hook tip, the key part for picking up yarn, is required to be sharp and smooth, enabling it to pick up yarn smoothly without scratching. The connecting part is used to fix the yarn hook to the corresponding position of the ribbon weaving machine, which may be connected to the machine through screws, slots or other connectors.
  • Types: In terms of length, there are long and short yarn hooks. For example, a common long yarn hook can be 31.5 cm long, while a short one is 18.5 cm long. Different lengths are suitable for different ribbon weaving machine models and weaving requirements. In terms of shape, there are straight hooks and curved hooks. The straight hook is relatively simple and suitable for some conventional weaving processes, while the curved hook is more conducive to picking up yarn in complex weaving actions and is often used for special stitches or patterns.
